Gallery 1957 is proud to announce our participation in Art Dubai with a solo exhibition of paintings by Nadia Waheed.
Underpinned by themes of grief and the tangible fear of destruction, Waheed has taken a different approach to these paintings by moving away from hyper definition and realism. In this new body of work, she is working intuitively and without a master scheme of planning to present works that overcome thoughts on death, war, and life as an immigrant.
In Waheed’s paintings, strange new worlds and realities co-exist, and she invites her audience to journey across ephemeral ways of being. The artist invites us to recall a humanism made to measure the world and to fulfil the promise of redemption. This bold, deep dive into unknown, ethereal space, the interplay between artist and viewer feels like an intensely intimate and mutually conditioning exchange.
We look forward to showcasing Waheed at Booth A-4 at Art Dubai from 28th February - 3rd March 2024.
